Maya Dice

Very first time using Maya... What a lovely day.

So, after playing around with maya, following tutorials, and three attempts creating a dice (Maya crashed the first time, Materials refused to assign to the model the second time, Light source decided to spaz out the entire program and corrupt my scene on the third) I ended up with this piece of junk.

I'm proud I actually managed to get the damn tools to do what I intended to do 18 hours ago, but as a final piece I'm not happy with it- Mainly because the whole scene is too damn dark, looks too...smooth, and the dots just look odd, I don't know if it's because the white parts of the texture map are too small or because the models' smoothness makes it look odd or...Anyway.

Later today I'll edit the scene and put in better textures for the dice and mat, and a brighter light source to make it look a tad more atttractive. I used maya 2011 to make the dice so I can't do anything while I'm still here in uni

Technical Workshop Photoshop

Later in the day we were given an introduction in the use of photoshop on the mac. Basically the general tools and stuff for beginners who may not know it.

Our task was to create five individual drawings of our spliced animal, here is one of the two hour drawings that it took in our first lesson.

Technical Workshop Maya

We were given an introduction into the use of Maya 8.0 through a brief breakdown of the tools and interfaces within the program. Specifically Binary and ASCii, the view tools, an overview of the interface, the common menus and tool box, as well as brief insight into the timeline and animation preferences.

Later on we were given a task to develop a set of dice using Maya. Which I will be looking at later on.

Hello World

Hi There
I'm a first year student studying Ba Hons CG Arts & Animation @ UCA Rochester
and I generally despise blogging, so this should be fun...

Few bits of info about me:

  • I have a stupid amount of knowledge in Photoshop and Illustrator, along with being proficient in HTML
  • In harsh contrast, I have absolutely zero experience in Maya or 3DSmax.
  • I spent more time in my A-level graphic design exam helping people with Photoshop then doing my own work.
  • I run my own Freelance Business named Freeflow Art and my own brand called Freeflow Clothing
  • I have a compulsion for doodling anything anywhere anytime, examples:

  • My Workspace:

I will be playing around with the design of the blog a lot. Customising everything I do is an annoying compulsion :)
